The McLaren-Honda MP4/4 is a Formula One racing car designed by the McLaren International team for the 1988 FIA Formula One World Championship. The 1988 season is the last season that f1 teams will be able to use V6 Twin Turbocharged engine. The MP4/4 was designed by American engineer Steve Nichols, with assistance from the team's Technical Director Gordon Murray. Nichols and Murray based the design on the lowline Brabham BT55, designed by Murray for the 1986 season when Murray was chief designer at Brabham. Powered by a Honda RA168-E 1.5L V6 Twin Turbo engine in combinaison with the best chassis of the grid, the car is considered one of the most dominant Formula One cars ever built, winning 15 of 16 races and having started 15 times pole position in the 1988 season. Ayrton Senna won his first Formula One World Championship at his first season with McLaren and the team won the Formula One Constructors Championship.
